Losses Caused by Misclassification
Daye, a company offering diagnostic women's health products (including HPV testing), intended to promote its services on Meta. However, an ad (left and right) featuring a pregnant woman was wrongly removed under the "Adult Nudity and Sexual Activity" policy. The company also faced unfair restrictions from Google. Despite not selling fertility or contraceptive products, its ads were misclassified under the "Birth control, fertility, and testing" policy, resulting in reduced reach and higher costs.
Google expanded this policy in 2024 without clear justification and refused to correct the error, citing vague reasons such as the use of the word "fertility."
